How Acier Picard met the challenges of expansion

The aim was to increase warehousing capacity while meeting strict safety and operational efficiency requirements.

Suitable solutions for indoor and outdoor needs

Overhead cranes resistant to outdoor conditions

In the warehouse’s two new outdoor bays, we designed and installed four overhead cranes fitted with two 5-ton wire rope hoists. The equipment was specially adapted to withstand the elements thanks to :

1. Durable, corrosion-resistant paint,
2. Protective roofs to extend equipment service life,
3. Installation of LED lights for enhanced visibility.

These outdoor overhead cranes enable Acier Picard to efficiently manage loading and unloading, no matter the weather conditions.

A magnetic solution for moving steel plates

In one of the interior bays, we installed an overhead crane equipped with a custom-made magnet system. The magnet system was supplied by GRYB and integrated into the overhead crane controls by Premium. It includes :

1. Four electromagnets linked by an adjustable spreader bar,
2. The ability to lift and move several steel plates simultaneously,
3. Greater flexibility to select the number of plates to be lifted.

This solution enables Acier Picard to increase speed and efficiency while reducing handling risks.

Enhanced safety for teams

At Acier Picard, safety is a priority. We have developed and installed two maintenance areas to :

1. Isolate and lock out overhead cranes without interrupting the operation of other equipment on the same runway,
2. Guarantee safe maintenance for workers.
